Flyrod gets repaired

Entry: After 19 years of display in Steel Head Park, The 800 pound Houston Flyrod got taken down to be repaired. The 18.3 metre long rod is constructed entirely of aluminum and is anodized bronze to simulate graphite. In June, the Flyrod was fully restored and looked better than ever!

Spirit of BC Committee Book Donation

Entry: The Houston Public Library and schools have received a book about the 2010 Witner Olympics Mascots: "Miga, Quatchi, and Sumi The Story of The Vancouver 2010 Mascots." It is a great children's book about the history of the 2010 mascots. It was donated by the Houston Spirit of BC Committee to build excitement for 2010!

Entry: Our Tween C Ringette team went to Vernon, had a GREAT time and brought home a silver medal from the provincial championships. Team sport is a great way to build friendships and lead a healthy lifestyle. It also makes the winters go by faster when you are active.

Entry: ... no, just mad... at the Mountain Madness Marathon, June 28, 2009!!! Four of Houston's runners showed Houston pride at a road race in a neighbouring community recently, two ran the half marathon, one of whom placed 2nd in her category (despite the fact it was her first 1/2) and the other two split the distance in a relay... all four came home with great memories and lots of smiles... now if we could figure how to run with the Nikon, we'd really be stylin' and we could share the smile of victory!! Next time!!
